Georgia's Foreign Minister completes working visit to Kingdom of Sweden

On May 16-17, 2011, Georgia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Grigol Vashadze paid a working visit to the Kingdom of Sweden.
On May 16, as part of his visit, Vashadze held a meeting with his Swedish counterpart, Carl Bildt.
The two discussed some of the major issues of bilateral and multilateral co-operation between Georgia and Sweden, as well as the directions of co-operation within the framework of international organizations, topical issues on the agenda of Georgia-EU relations, the current situation in Georgia's occupied territories and developments in the South Caucasus.
Special attention was paid to priority trends of Georgia-EU co-operation, to progress achieved in the negotiations over the Association Agreement, the possibility of the further liberalization of the visa regime for Georgia and the Eastern Partnership Summit in Warsaw. The Georgian side thanked its Swedish counterpart for its active support for Georgia's territorial integrity and integration into European structures.
Vashadze also met with Svante Cornell, Director of the Institute for Security and Development Policy, Walburga Habsburg-Douglas, Head of the Swedish Delegation to OSCE PA, Kent Härstedt, leader of the social-democratic faction of the Swedish parliament, Per Eklund, Former Head of the EU Delegation to Georgia, and other representatives of Sweden's scientific, political and media community.
