But weren't the last 2 records set at sea level??? Guys from the steel era were just beast... Limited in knowledge compared to what we have today but still dominated.(not sure if current hour record set at sea level but boardman's was)
Boardman holds the performance hour (old record before UCI decided that technology was taking over the record, so reverted bikes back to a standard similar to Merckx's bike), at 56.375km
Boardman then re-attempted and broke Merckx's record by 10m in 2000 (using the old standard bikes), but that record has since been broken by Ondrej Sosenka in 2005, who remains the current record holder.
Btw, currently set on carbon not steel.
