Me playing a sloppy intro to Chick Corea's famous 500 Miles High. I used the voicing from another video by Lot2Learn on youtube. I fell in love as soon as I heard it. Enjoy?

  • just discovered this nice piece. The version on "Returns" just smokes and is beautiful. I prefer it over the original version (never liked the vocals).

Nice video :) In case you want to explore this piece futher, the chord sequence is pretty interesting and leaves up for some interesting but simple voicings. Some of the chords in this sequence are just an alteration of the previous one. Try fooling around with it. You can't go wrong I think :)

  • @santibanks Thank you! I will definitely try messing around with it. I wish I was fluent at playing different things over the chord changes, this was pretty much just someone else's voicings that I learned. Thanks for the comment!

  • Nice intro - sounds familiar (LOL). ;-)

  • Hey Thank you, you're an amazing pianist.

  • Me and my wife just listened to this about five times and cried most of them! Thank you JM.

  • ughhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! Its like watching a sloth climb a tree

  • @barcanard Well its a very good song to learn improvising over. I'd say go for it :) Fluency is something you learn by playing A LOT! So grab every spare minute you have and play. It doesnt matter what, just play…

I personally like RTF music for that as it suites a lot for improvisation. Their live renditions have long vamps and extended sections which suite perfectly for improvisation. Just noodle along. You'll learn a lot from that :)

  • awesome man!!
