Oakland, California is the birthplace to more NBA basketball stars than any other city in the country. But there is a streetball legend who rises above them all....
Demetrius "Hook" Mitchell has been called one of the best basketball players never to make it to the NBA, and can name superstar NBA players (and fellow Oaklanders) Jason Kidd, Gary Patyon, Brian Shaw among his closest friends. But while these b-ball legends say that he was better than all of them, Hook wound up incarcerated for five years, lelft to watch his childhood friends skyrocket to stardom with multi-million dollar salaries. His poignant tale of a life gone wrong is told in HOOKED.

@use2slam2 Its because this guy understands what he did wrong and is actually working towards bettering himself and reforming himself, owning up to his mistakes like a man. The circumstances didn't make it easy for him to do better, but he is obviously trying now. I know your comment is old but I had to say somthing.

crazy story if I'm not mistaken he robbed the Blockbuster in the diamond district. getting away ran through an Apt my friend lived in. That means he ran past a rottweiler and the apt was a dealers spot so he was extra luck not to get shot. My friend told me and he doesn't know or care about basketball . Hook must have been on one to run that get away route

every city has a story about a great player who didnt make it but i saw hook in person my father took me to see hook and what i saw was somebody who was almost not human he was still the best most explosive player i have ever seen excluding nobody except for maybe lebron
