Live hot jazz with Rick Sherry and Carlos Thorne, 9/11/98, The North Lakeside Cultural Center was next door to Berger Park where I was an all-ages music instructor. They started Jazz Fridays. I recruited Carlos from my park Jazz ensemble. He was terrific! Rick Sherry was a blast!

  • This is my original song that's a tribute to Jimmy Blythe. My dad taught me to play his 78s when I was four years old (in 1960), and though I didn't know it for a long time, I was listening to Jimmy Blythe as a pianist with Johnny Dodds on a few of my dad's 78 rpm reissues. It made me romp all over the room. Since I want Jazz to be living, it seemed natural to create a new song that's inspired by his sound and how it makes me feel. Thank you for listening!

  • I don't quite understand how James Blythe figures into this except in terms of the instrumentation of the group (clarinet, piano, and washboard). However, good tune and performance, thanks!
