  • it wasnt about just going faster, as you say i can go buy a faster bike any day of the week. it annoyed me that a yank keeps bleeting about his super charged (older non vtech) VFR, i thought if your going to make "go faster" do it properly, i made enquiries and was told it couldnt be done. any thing can be done if you try, i like a challenge and thought it hasnt been done before to a vtech so after lots of homework decided i would. and discovered i could, so i did.

  • @vfrturbo As for cost in parts it cost approx £100, S/H turbo, exhaust fitters for offcut exhaust pipes, and induction system made out of bits in my garage, i have no access to specialist tools, lathes or machine shops, just lots homework and improvisation, i have done approx 2500 miles on the bike and am getting the hang of it. also just as i little giggle to myself, Mr supercharger had an issue regarding fueling and boost pressure, i over came this by spending £1.50 in a pet shop.

  • went for dyno, due to fault with wastegate/actuator could not maintain boost pressure, however on one run it did achieve 10psi boost giving 110 bhp, not enough but not a wasted day, i have proved the plenum, turbo and exhaust are all working well.

  • finally someone has done it! :) Now it would be nice to see some actual road test shoots! :)

  • booked in for dyno on sat 24th oct, will post video and results sheets

  • what happend to this project???\

  • That thing sounds like a Subaru WRX more than a VFR.

  • last visit day 1 month ago, RIP man

  • May I ask why you put a turbo on this bike? I own one and while it's great at most things, it's not perfect at any. Why not just get a Hyabusa that delivers the type of power you're trying to achieve? Again, not a judgement call, just that you spent so much time (and I assume money) to do something that another bike does without a turbo.

  • if you have a decent point and shoot camera with video capture; like a sony cybershot; you should also capture the video to the dyno run, would love to hear the vfr800 screaming with the turbo! :)
