one time, i saw the 799 with a P42DC instead of a dash 8 engine.

i think so:you see,799 always has the dash 8.but somtimes it has overland trail tours,so they change 1 horizon car into a dinette,4 horzons and 3 amfleets.then they change them again.they dont change them because amtrak says its a consist everybody gets used to(remember i'm not entirely sure)

I am not sure what happened to the horizon coaches on the 799. The consists seemed like it has never changed for months. Do you know what happened to the horizon coaches on the 799?

When I went on the 799 Surfliner it had Dash 8 engines on both ends of the train. It had three Horizon cars; a Horizon business clas, cafe and coach then two
Amfleet cars. I didn't have my camera that time. Sorry.

maily swimmming in the sea and walking up state street,but ofcourse RAILFANNING!!! once in the morning i saw train 799 have a cappage car and dash 8 p32 with an overland tours coach with the horizon dinnette.took lots of picis but only on the station

Why did you get off in Santa Barbara if you got on in Goleta? The northbound train 769 goes to goleta.
