Robin Williams and Milton Berle stole so much material there was joke that when you steal a joke from them, it's not theft it's repossessing.

Leary was funny(stolen or not) but u get tired of his delivery pretty soon. Bill was way more crafty in his delivery and hence refreshing as opposed to leary's always crude "im honest as fuck and i dont care what u think" delivery

@alkalinezombie You can't compare Leary & Hicks. Your comparing Leary to a guy who didn't have the time to become mainstream, mainly because, HE DIED. Also because he would always perform in southern towns, many wouldn't get the message he would sent with jokes, nor think they were funny. Trust me, if Bill never died from cancer, he would become more known than he is today. It's sad to see such a man to be unknown by the masses. He was 32 when he died.

@TalynStarburst It does means shit that Hicks came first because it proves he was the original and the creative one whereas Leary is just a thieving copycat who couldn't think up any of his own shit, when Hicks quit smoking, a friend of his asked him why, Hicks replied, "To see if Denis would!", that's all you need to know..all Leary fans..get use to it and get over it!

@TalynStarburst Even if they were on the circuit together which is the first I've heard of this by the way, virtually every other stand up at that time and after have said that Hicks was the original and it is all his material and Leary swiped and changed it.
