What is a partial QTIP Election: A partial QTIP Election is an election made by the executor of an estate, qualifying for the marital deduction only for the smallest portion of a trust needed to reduce the federal estate tax to zero after taking into account the available unified credit. Taxes on the amount so elected will be deferred until the death of the surviving spouse.
