Infinity Starfield Video

This is an old one dating from 2005 but some of you may not have seen it yet. It shows what the starfield will look like when quite close to the center of the galaxy. It should keep you going until the next major video update in the coming months.

Hmm what part of a galaxy is that camera in? Infact, what kind of galaxy is that?

As stated in the info with the video, its near the center of the galaxy (The milky way in the Infinity Universe). You cannot see any structure because you're inside the galaxy with millions of stars in every direction.

If you read the documentation on the website and that comes with the prototype it goes to great pains to explain that the download is only a combat prototype and does not come close to reflecting the full game. Meaning no flying between star systems, no quests, no landing on planets. The prototype is only there to give the player a taste of what the combat will be like.

Think of it being a closed off arena, boxed off from everything else in the Infinity universe, besides the arena you are in.

This is a serious question, will there be near the speed of light travel? And will the visual effects of that be applied properly in line with current relativity theory? And similarly will the time effects be applied correctly? I guess there is no way to apply the correct time warping as everyone who is playing is physically on earth, on teh same server, at the same time, but the visuals would be great. If the answer to the above question is no, then how will ships conduct interstellar travel?

@Ultermarto Oh, I have a feeling there are going to be some innovations in the transportation department. There are a lot of creative folks out there...

I for one, am an amateur designer. Warp theory: a pretty advanced yet approachable subject.

Proceduraly generated sovereignty to explore/inhabit... Jumpgates...

I haven't even said anything about the innovations I could personally contribute(not here on youtube).

Anyway, I'm just saying that that should be the least of your worries.

@InfinitySupport That's a shame. I hope you're planning on adding checkpoint planets and landmarks so the enviroment isn't just an endless, meaningless cluster. we need places to go.
