Simply a voice like no other. She always had the respect of her peers
as well as an adoring public. She created so many memorable moments
on stage. She's transcendent. She's Leontyne Price. A gift.

@ManufacturedHottie I am well aware she is alive. When I say was I was referring to the voice from yesteryear. She retired from staged opera in 1985. Thanks!

@bigjoetube Very nice & thoughtful comment. And I agree. But let's change it to say 'is' one of the best. She's very much alive & well at 85 years old! People think she has passed on, but such is not the case. She is rich & retired, but definitely alive :)

@Ravenelvenlady Just read your comments re Leontyne Price and absolutely agree. I have loved and admired many opera singers over the years but NONE of them beats this version of Oh Holy Night. I can't tell you, though, what it does to me when I hear pop or easy listening singers murder such a beautiful carol. No-one else should be allowed to record this!
