"Bad to Me" is a song written by John Lennon, credited to Lennon/McCartney. Lennon wrote it for Billy J. Kramer & The Dakotas. They released the song in 1963 and it became their first #1 UK hit. The single would be released in the USA the following year, and become a top-ten hit in that country, reaching number 9.

Bootlegs exist of John Lennon's original demo of the song, which was recorded on May 31, 1963. Easy to find good quality recordings right here on the tubes. Check it out.

Great Staying-Power songs; every bit as great now as when heard in Ft. Riley, Arlington,I've a weak spot for the Dakotas (even Brian Epstein crush BJK): all those great John-Paul tunes passed out like party favors w/o commercially recording them themselves. The Dakotas were a GREAT band when it came to sounding like "if you can't have JPG&R, here's something almost as good". Unique way of conveying a sense of what The Lads would have done with the tunes. Thanks for the post. You know who I am.
