This is Ben Rothman's third turn break to 4-back after laying a supershot and hitting oppo in corner 2. Action is picked up after having scored hoop 2 and concludes with his leave.

  • On second thought... having watched the clip again and read the description more carefully, I mistook your comment.... bdastylie.... my previous comment assumed that the first hoop run was #1 and not #3...

  • Playing to hoop #1 first is certainly the more sensible play in terms of defensive play.... Leaving oppo that close to #1 with a good pioneer at #2 would be treacherous had he not run hoop #1...

  • I would have liked to see the hit in and the play to #1 and then to #2...

  • From the UK Croquet Association website:

Supershot An opening where the player of turn one plays a ball to the middle of the lawn, generally to the east of the centre line, between 5 and the peg. The idea is that wherever their opponent goes, the player threatens to hit and complete a break on the third turn of the game. Also used to describe a player whose shooting is of sufficient standard to justify this opening as a routine one.

  • what is a supershot?
