A comparison between the built-in microphone on the Canon HV30 compared to the Rode NT3 Cardioid Condenser Microphone.
The Canon HV30 was positioned about 4 feet away, and the Rode NT3 was only about 1.5 feet, on a boom. So you could say it was an unfair test, but since the NT3 can be put on a boom and the HV30's mic can't, it still demonstrates the advantages of the NT3.
built in sounds crap. nt3 sounds wonderful in comparison.

unfair test? the mic costs half as much as the camera of course its gonna sound better. That's kinda the point too. See if the Nt 3 sounds better on a boom then the built in mic.

I believe it's actually
'for relaxing times...make it Suntory time'.
But nice demonstration of the NT3. Were you using a boom pole or a stand?

lol just read the info which has confirmed my suspicion that this was an unfair test.

so I searched for the NT3 on B&H and it looks like a wireless mic. Is it? And if it is, how did you connect it to the HV30? I know the HV30 has a 3.5mm jack for external mics.
Thanks
