  • I have family in Assynt. I love this poem.

  • Hi Fatpara- yes Its a great poem. One of the many 'Aces' in his poems about Assynt. Have you read the new selected MacCaig poems by Roderick Watson 'The Many Days. A collection of gems.

  • The poem at the beginning is 'Two Men at Once'.

  • He was my tutor at Stirling University nearly 40 years ago.

  • Just bought a huge edition of his work, put together by Ewan and bought in Blackwells/Edinburgh, I hear of Norman being a one of the great Scottish poets, never mind Scotland, I have him as one of the greatest ever. He like to tell the odd porkie or two though, like he never read any books? lol yeah right

  • Thanks for posting this. What's the name of the poem at the beginning.? can't find it in my book..

  • I would have loved to have met himxxx Makes me proud to be Scottishx
