2 Black and Tan Coonhounds on Raccoon

http://www.ironwoodkennel.com Puppies available summer 09! --- Our 8 yr old pup trainer, Minnie helping to train our 6 month old pup, Lilly how to follow a track, tree and go after a coon hide. This is all done on a road kill coon.

For all those discussing the raccoon.. yes, it is dead. We use road kill for the first stage of this training. Fresh road kill so it doesn't stink like death but still smell like raccoon. We then tie a rope on it, trail it around the yard and put it in a tree. We release the youngster to see if they will find the trail that leads to the raccoon. Just the way it's done, folks.

I have a raccoon in one of my trees i dont know what to do i only have a boy mixed breed and the raccoon is redish orangey brown is it rear to see one? or uncommin? and we have never seen one please tell me what to do i think its a boy cause its Really big and near my dogs house "Dog House" (SO Scary)

My first thought was: a coon during the daylight hours? Thats not a good sight. Rabies comes to mind. Then I read where you are just training young coons, and it all makes sense.
