  • "That was Juicy!!!" Amazing

  • Sweet Gods in Heaven, the term "prima ballerina absolutta" was practically coined specifically for this woman. She was and is the greatest there ever was, is or will ever be.

Greater even than Dame Margot Fonteyn. Than fellow native Russians Godunov, Nureyev and Baryshnikov. She can't be human. No mortal could ever be this flawless.

Her body was made for ballet, precisely designed for this form. Just look at her--not just here, but anywhere.

  • Natalia Makarova claims to have born double jointed. However, it is her unique artistic beauty that puts her in the true class of prima ballerina.

  • @dianalb81 You don't have to be born with those abilities, I mean, yes it helps to be naturally flexibile, but if you work hard from a young age then to be honest the sky's your limit, unless you really do have no musicality. However, I've been doing ballet since I was 3 years old and I don't think I'll ever be as good as her *sigh*

  • The music used for the first pointe exercise is the cabaletta "Quando rapito in estasi" from Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoor"!

  • her control and perfection is so beautiful I could cry. To be born with her abilities....stunning

  • Boasting nothing.

  • Had the great good fortune to see her dance so many times & take masterclass with her - utterly incredible, a true artist in pure classical ballet at a time when the art mattered the most, not split arabesques - which of course are not arabesques, simply the splits en pointe. This was on the BBC some years ago and I will try and track it down. Her Swan Lake with Dowell at the ROH - unforgettable and heart-stopping.

  • Impeccable Kirov technique, expression, grace-my favorite ballerina, the best ever. (And, likeable) .

  • Blurry or not, there is no mistaking the FLUID PERFECTION of Makarova's dancing. OMG, even in sweats she outclasses every other ballerina alive or dead!

  • @grebeldance or maybe it is "A Class of Her Own" - not sure.
