When analyzing the elements of the environment the "food web" as oppose to the "food chain" is a better depiction of the recycling of energy and renewing of nutrients in ecosystems. Laboratory 3, the Analysis of Microecosystems effectively displays this through processes of photosynthesis respiration and decomposition. The ecospheres of biotic and abiotic components can be broken down to the way organisms obtain and utilize energy depicting the cycle of life and the value of the food web.
