Trains still use that bridge but it is closed to road traffic. The city is trying to turn it into a park for visitors to walk across (or something like that) but the train companies are trying to fight it.

I always enjoyed crossing the Mississippi in different places. I pray for the souls of the people who lost their lives in Minnisota on the I -35E bridge. I'vedriven that bridgemany times in the past 6 years

For those who are curious the black bridge has train tracks across it (I can't remember if it's still in use or not).

Vicksburg looks like a very nice town. I regret that I was only able to drive through it on the Interstate. I'm glad it brought you some joy!!
