Here is a 3D model of a Gemini capsule re-entering Earth atmosphere. The model is created with Maxon C4D using the Turbulence 4D plug-in. I always found the network TV animations of re-entry to be rather fake looking. Now, 45 years later, I can create a better version all by my lonely. Thanks to Paul Selhi's SFX forum for insights and settings.

  • @bluecolliedog Well, if you mean which 3D model carrier, whichever is simpler to model, probably the Hornet. If you mean real world carriers, again, I believe the Hornet has the longer, richer tradition of scooping up capsules at sea. So, the Hornet seems like the most likely responder. Thank you for your question, Mr. Viewer.

  • Will the Kittyhawk or the Hornet pickup the crew and capsule after splashdown?
