@sepphtmage no you most certainly didn't, surgery for HD is performed since the the late 60's I know people who are 40 with this disease ! I myself, am 24 & had surgery for a full megacolon !
What surgery are folk referring to here? Is it the colon removal followed at birth or has something new been found? Anyone heard of possible stem cell research sororronding bowl or colon repair? Im 20 with standard problems but playing college level sports. Also never met anyone else with it.
have had HD my entire life.... im 23 now..... Never met anyone else with it.... I still have a lot of the disease in me and it will always be in my.... Sadly issues are arising to this day....
Or perhaps the hemerhoids is causing the pain, creating the backup, and perhaps creating a megacolon. Or it can be just plain hemerhoids (I hope - ugh... when has anyone EVER hoped to have hemerhoids?). The doc is going to check for colon cancer and polyps as well, as I am 43 now.
I was a biology major in college and understand a great deal of what they are talkin about and what info is given in the wiki. But I didn't know that as a kid. Hope all turns out well for me and only need laxatives.
I am getting a colonoscopy this comming monday. I pray that my hirschprung hasn't come back...but I am not sure. Perhaps they left a portion of the diseased colon all that while ago and it is causing problems now. Perhaps a portion of the stitched together rectum detached. Apparently I am backing up, and that can stretch the colon out causing megacolon. Perhaps when I do deficate (repeatedly daily) it is irritating the blood vessels in the rectum causing the hemerhoids.
This video brought back a lot of sad memories from that time.
I have not had problems up until a couple of years ago. I am now back to deficating one or two days a week. I think most people do it daily. When I do deficate, I do it multiple times in that day. I think I clean myself out. However, it is painfull after a while because I have developed hemrhoids and they start to bleed. I would rather go daily, but I do not feel the urge to go except once or twice a week.
When I went back to the hospital a month later, they popped it back inside.
During the first operation, they removed a portion of the colon also. Not sure how much, but apparently what they believed to be the nonfunctional portion. I have a six inch scar from my naval to the beginning of the pubic hair to prove it. They used cat gut stitches to sew me back together and keep my insides inside. I remember riding my big wheel and wondering if the stitches were going to pop from the bumps.
I also had a tube ran down my nose and throat down into my stomach during that month in the hospital. I hurt when I would laugh. I hated it.
The doctor did the procedure where they litterally rip you a new butt hole. They pulled out the nonfunctional rectum through the anus and sewed the functional part over it. They left it hanging out for a month. I had to use a special seat so that i did not injure the 4-6 inches of anus hanging out.
I was in the hospital for a month. I got stuck with needles 3 times a day. I still have a phobia of needles to this day. After the hospital experience I flipped out when the next doctor tried to stick me. I ran away screaming. Today, only with great self-discipline can I sit still for getting stuck for blood tests. I do not donate blood for that reason, through I would want to. I try to minimize needle contact.
