All Blues Anthony Braxton (as), Lee Konitz (as), Chick Corea (p), Pal Metheny (g), Miroslav Vitous (b), Jack DeJohnette (d) Woodstock Jazz Festival N.Y. 9/19/1981
The show is great. But beat me, the only thing I don't like about most free musicians is that them have no sound. Lee Konitz I can directly differ from other alto players, but Braxton also could have been Ornette Coleman, whom by the way I like a lot, but most of them seem to have this thin piercing sound which sounds to my ears mostly all alike. But maybe I listened to many times to Johnny Hodges ;-)
"mindless dreck." i love that. how about 16 minutes of some of the most original and brilliantly mindful playing i've heard on this overworked classic. the interplay between Chick and Miroslav and the best bowed solo ever. and chick giving perfect tonite show/ broadway niteclub backup to Jack's outro. perfect.
the ending ahahahaha is Jack drunk??
