Rammstein's "Engel" (excellent a cappella version, May 2011)

The well-known score by Jan Bürger and Oliver Gies, presented as an encore by Chor des Gymnasiums Oberwil, Switzerland, on May 21 and 22, 2011. This version was filmed on May 22.

Please notice that these 60 young people are singing without being conducted. Unfortunately I had no better camera to record the fascinating concert which included works from Benjamin Britten, Hanns Eisler and Heinrich Sutermeister.

Say a prayer for the woman who wrote this song for Till Lindman. She was suffering horribly having to make a decision to abort a child and save her own life.

If she never had the abortion..this song would never have been written. By denying one life she gave joy and life to so many others.

Each day we make choices at the expense of others so that we may succeed.

The trick in understanding Rammstein's texts is in the ability to read between the lines ;) Aside from that understanding and feeling the German language is a requirement too.

So a kid who hears this song could want to become an angel on earth and act as a social being . The meaning of this beautiful song depends on the listener's capacity to listen to the lines between the words. All kids should learn it from their parents and at school.
