Hey! You can stream mkv files without Using ps3tovob, tversity or any other program.
Dload PS3 Media server @ www.ps3mediaserver.blogspot.comand dload the program for the OS you are using. Easy install. Set ur share folders on ur pc and ur ready to stream ur files.
This is not a tutorial on how to setup share files. This is for peeps like myself that are tired of using the same highly promoted programs that are too time consuming. If ur clueless about streaming, There are tons of vids to get u familiar on how to stream simple avi files.

  • i've been using this for a long time, i even streamed 20 gb Avatar file..., and i could fast forward mkv files

but now for some reason the f-n thing doesnt work, errors show up on almost all mkvs, never mind forwarding or rewinding at all...Connected by glink gigabit switch, on a CAT6 cable

    PC: core i7@ 3.6ghz, 12Gb ram, gtx460...

  • @DimAciD did you try reinstalling the program? did you download some new codecs?

  • Never mind, I see you have to share the lowest folder that contains the video file specifically. Even with regular broadband 1080p stutters like a mofo though. Anyone else have this problem?

  • @Stophocles i dont have a problem with stuttering unless im multitasking a ton of stuff. do you have an older pc?

  • okay, a full admittance of newb-ness with PMS right off the bat, but i am having problems with my mkv files on it.... i have been using vuze to stream to my ps3 (which most know won't even play mkv files until after a long re-encoding) until i found this awesomeness. it starts to play them, but then starts to get really jumpy or stop all together, depending on file size. questions: does this have to do more with my bandwidth? or something in settings i can tweak? any help would be great!

  • @Gmahny2021 i never had to do any tweaking. make sure to install the proper codecs on your pc too. do you have enough ram to stream this stuff? it takes up a lot.

  • Whoever made this program is a legend! I have been trying to get my MKVs to work for the past 2 hours. Tried activating DIVX, no luck. Tried Tversity and it said my files were corrupted. But this server does the job!

  • This service is made not to work properly. When you think you've got it right, it will find some way to frustrate you.

  • @michaelobua You have a very valid point. I had forgotten to mention that with this kind of setup, you need to have your laptop next to your TV at all times. To combat this distance problem I bought a wireless mouse and keyboard. I can do all my clicking and typing from the comfort of my couch. You don't end up needing a long HDMI cable.

The other thing is you will find that the media server will find some way to not work for you soon. Don't get frustrated all over again.

  • @SoulVotik Problem for me is i only have 1 laptop, and my workspace where i do my typing and such is too far from my tv for a hdmi to be a viable solution for me =/... On another note, i seem to have set up my network and my media server settings to a perfection now. MKVs 720p works flawlessly! But I really had to go try & error.. I don't think theres a universal solution that will work for all setups.. =/

  • Dude this was awesome! Thanks so much for this video. It works great!

  • WOW i can now play MKV files on my PS3, Thank You !!!!

  • @knevil753 I'm streaming from a relatively new laptop actually. Oddly enough, when I disabled subtitles it doesn't stutter. I guess that tiny extra task somehow puts it over the top.
