The Mad Dog rally team (Olivia Morrow/John Morrow) competing on the NW Classic Rally, Oregon, August 8th 2009. The car is a 1967 Series 1 Jaguar XKE coupé. This is Olivia's first rally and the car's first outing after a 10 year hibernation. It performed flawlessly. I'm training Olivia in pacenote instructions that are not particularly accurate but you get the picture...

  • Hi, John,

Made me wish the previous run of this rally would have worked out. Looks and sounds great!

  • @jerrymouton Hi Jerry. Hope all is well. I'd like to have another go at the rally but my co-driver (daughter) has taken off for Italy and anyway the E type needs some attention. Maybe I'll think about the Mille Miglia for another year...

  • Very nice, sounds good too!!.

Is that a smaller steering wheel than the original?

  • Thanks for your comments. The sporty sound is due to the fact that I've replaced the standard exhaust manifold with ceramic-coated headers and the center exhaust box has been replaced with glass packs. The overall effect is louder than standard and after a day's rallying I'm reaching for the ibuprofen but I think this is a small price to pay.

  • Well spotted with the steering wheel: it's 1" smaller in diameter than standard -it makes the steering a bit heavier (especially with wider 6" rim wheels) but again I feel the trade off is worth it. The original wheel is like something out of the QE2...!

  • Nice E...sounds great. What year?

  • 1967
