yes i did quite a few times. when i play it often in a short timespan i rarely lose a credit in easy mode and use a few in normal mode. the most important thing is timing of your strike attacks. maybe for that reason i pick the Red dragon. his standing kick is great for countering nearly all attacks. also his moonsault is damn cool. Even Master Barnes is not that hard. once he does his fast kick combo climb up the ropes and attack him or run attack, follow up with a C attack or a submission.

small hint: try hitting your opponent with a few strikes in a row and then try a grapple with button A. whenever a grapple starts you see this red and blue bar below the fighters. with strikes you can get an advantage. also try using aerial attacks. Especially when fighting opponents that tend to use standing combo attacks (like the Knife slash or Rogers' Punch combo). i always use the Red Dragon (his speed kick and Moonsault are awesome), but with practice every character is useful.
