Tornado Hits Kensal Rise

Mayor of Brent, Councillor Bertha Joseph, and local resident, Rocky Fernandez, Chair of the Kensal Green Community Safety Forum were the first Brent representatives on the scene after a tornado hits Kensal Rise on the 7th Dec 2006. Rocky telephoned Madam Mayor on the morning and asked her immediately to come to Kensal Rise. Rocky managed to persuade the Police and the Fire Service to go on a walk about to inspect the damage. Later Rocky arranged for Madam Mayor to speak with the media - this one of several interviews during the morning. ITV's London Tonight and Sky News were the first.

The following year Rocky was very disappointed that Brent Council did not honour and pay tribute to the Fire Service - so he arranged to visit them with the Mayor in April 2007 to say THANK YOU.
