Inspired by Judith1107, I've made my own (let's say, less charming) version of Milan Rezac's translation of the Oath of Feanor. It's far from perfect, yet I hope it may be enjoyable.

English text by J.R.R. Tolkien
Quenya text by Milan Rezac
Sarati graphics: Karolina Stopa
Music: The Treason of Isengard, FotR Soundtrack

  • @Legionarius807 Silmarrillion is a compilation of stories... not a story itself... and yes it is allot better than TLOTR... to bad they can't make a movie out of it...

  • Would love to have you do a version for Middle-earth Network Radio! Brilliantly done!

  • @PhantomHourglassGuru haha. We'll I'm a linguist, so it's kind of my thing. Although it's still hard to find any information about the various stages of Quenya. Dr. Tolkien wrote a great deal, but his estate is very slow at publishing his notes.

  • @gustjorodedheo Where do you people learn all of this stuff? Just wondering, as I'd like to learn the language once I have spare time (read: once school's over).

  • I think this is a bit too easy. I mean - Feanor is not only evil. Better, he was not ever evil. [And he`s not Moringótho or so.]

  • 8 Drawfs passed here...

  • This language is more beatiful and powerful than any 'real' language

  • That is quite close to Common Quenya.I noticed plurals in -i instead of -r, and intervocalic -z- instead of -r-. And of course, th, which was shifting to s by the time of the exile, much to the chagrin of Feanor. However, the innovation of plurals in -r had been established as well as the rhotication of z by the time of the Noldorin exile, and the debuccalization of the voiceless velar fricative to voiceless glottal fricative. So I'm curious as to why you gave it such an 'archaic' pronunciation

Feanor is a Noldorin elf of the First Age (the Silmarillion). He is the grandfather of Celebrimbor of Eregion (who made the 3 elven rings), and so his 8-pointed star is seen on the West Gate of Moria in LotR. When Gandalf is taking Pippin to Minas Tirith on Shadowfax, he tells Pippin about the origin of the palantir, saying that it was maybe made by Feanor himself, and that if one looked into it, perhaps he would see Feanor at work. Feanor's son Maglor raised Elrond.
