Marcus' teeth chattered whenever he was excited or wanted something. In this video clip, his 12th birthday cake and some biscuits had just arrived from Burpdog Biscuits. Sadly, Marcus died unexpectedly on his 12th birthday - I knew something was horribly wrong when he didn't even lift his head for a Burpdog biscuit.

  • did you ever find out what went wrong with him

  • No, or at least not definitively. The vet said he was presenting like a pulmonary embolism - Marcus had a tumor removed from between his front legs about 18 months before his death, and it is possible that the tumor regrew towards the inside (there was no sign of an external lump) and then the tumor threw off a clot which ended up in his lungs. His blood pressure would not stabilize and fluid started accumulating in his belly, so we decided to let him go. He told us it was okay by chattering.

  • What a sweet old man. I love it when they chatter. Sorry for your loss. :(

  • Looks like he was having focal point seizures... sorry for your loss..

  • When a dog refuses his or her favourite food, you know something is very seriously wrong...Tiny refused a bit of cheese, and his mate Twiggy [who had cancer when 12] refused tuna on the day she was put to sleep. Old dogs are lovely, but the downside is the poorlinesses of old age, like tumours..but hey, they had a great life and that is what you have to remember....:)

  • Our Whippet died suddenly..he had a ''lump'' on his side we had tested, and it came back ''benign'' and then it disappeared...then returned..and we had friends visit..Tiny came into the room and collapsed, my son said ''he is freezing'' [clinical shock] basically he was rushed to the animal hospital, for an emergency splenectomy, but could not be stabilised, and we had to have him euthanased...had we known it was a spleen tumour, beforehand, it could have been removed. Very distressing.

  • my greyhounds use to do this; we would call it her purring

  • My dog chatters when she's happy

  • Today on AFV they had a dog named Ralph who did this while the owner was asking if it's winter, is it cold, how cold, etc. This is so cute too...oh that face. Love it.

  • I am so sorry to hear that he passed away... and on his birthday of all days. He was much loved and obviously a very happy boy. God bless.
