I filmed this southbound Metrolink train at 5:34 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2009 while on the way home from meeting with a mentor at Soka University in Aliso Viejo, CA about my PhD program options.
Based on my research of the Metrolink schedule (http://www.metrolinktrains.com/schedules/html.php?id=581) I believe this is train #220 heading south to Union Station on the Antelope Valley Line).
Notice that the train is in the "pusher" configuration with the engine in the back -- this is cause for great concern about safety should the train be involved in an accident. Fortunately, when the Metrolink train crashed on September 12, 2008 it was NOT in this configuration, which potentially saved many injuries and deaths.
Note: There is no actual audio when the train passes (the battery in my Palm Centro had died and I used my Canon PowerShot A410 which has video, but not audio). The railroad crossing sound was downloaded from Freesound.org and is used under a Creative Commons Public License. The file was created by Freesound.org member "roscoetoon."
