Parts of the city of Recife in north-east Brazil have murder rates as high as some war zones. CAFOD partner Tarrafa organises activities to bring communities together and create a positive alternative to a reality where drugs, crime and killings are an everyday experience.

Twelve-year-old Pedro explains how young people are taking part in an eco-action project to encourage their local community to plant trees, recycle and improve their environment.
