You have to pass your suica card in the machine on the platform (near the position where the green cars stop), buy a green-car "ticket" (as a data in your card) with the machine, and you can use the green car.
You can sit on any seats you like in the green car. As soon as you get to your seat, you have to touch the card reader on the ceiling, which makes the attendant notice that the person on your seat has valid "ticket", then the attendant will not come to check your ticket.

I want to understand to use your suica for green class you had to pass it in another machine before boarding which machine is that? Is it for reserving a seat? Plz explain
Thanks

TIP: Your Suica card doesn't have to be used on just trains and subways. You can use them at grocery stores and at ending machines. I know from experience :D Check on the site or something if you want to know what else to use it for. Or google it.

going to tokyo tomorrow and still don't understand this? what are they swiping it for... there's no door to go through? argh...

it's doposit system
you can charge only 20,000yen=180$(1$=80yen)
if you lost Suica, you can stop using your Suica
if you paid 500 yen, you can reissue new Suica with same balance
ofcource, when you find lost Suica, you can regain this 500 yen
my pasmo (like Suica) is second cord…so this system is very useful

what happens if yours get stolen or lost? looks like anybody who gets their hands on it can use it just like that with no verifications whatsoever. is there is limit on how much you can put on it each day?

"except with the oyster card you have to take it out the wallet"
You must have a thick wallet!, i have my oyster card, suica and mango IC cards all in my wallet and never have to remove them - apart from when i'm topping my suica up.

i know the feeling how ever some parts of the country or doing the tram system (think of a monorail but alot damn safer in my opinion) For example colorado. Last i heard beside ihaving a tram for the major parts, denver parker DTC etc etc there making them connect from that point to go to like fort collins some ski resorts even Grand junction (4-5 car trip going about 75-80 MPH)
