You have to know, that the police officers in charge were rebuked officially after this incident.
The situation was: A real angry mob of palestinians and arabs were demonstrating and the situation seemed to escalate. The police officers thought that the flag is the last straw that breaks the camel's back... and the situation could be out of control...nevertheless it was the wrong action to take away the flag. I think, this will not happen again.
