@goldsmith1210 Yeah, I know. Sorry about that. Essencially, that's a pile of manuer I dropped for a particular group of trolls I have riding my heels online here like the monkeys they are in person. They should be along directly, within the day or so. They know I love DCI, and have been showing up everywhere I leave my comments.
There's a bit more to the story than that, but not worth telling here. To the clip though, thanks for posting this. '86-'89 are my favorite four SVC years.
DCA finalist~

@flugel76 I agree with you. They marched better(what's the big hurry today?), the music was better, the color guard marched(remember that?), off the line..... Drum Corps was fun then, it was kinda grass rootsy, the corps, although competitive, hung out and cheered for one another in between balongne sandwiches.DCI is played out, too much chops, pretentious, cliched. It really lost me when I saw one corps wearing........SPANDEX! Bring back the Bridgemen.

1987 Santa Clara Finals Show was, in my opinion, the best ever show not to win the title!

5:07 Gotta love what looks like to be Glen Crosby drinking one down, NICE!

@drbcrb no it is not you. The '80's was Drum Corp best decade, '70's next, 60's, then 90's and what we now last.

3:50 - let's go yes on gauntlets, no shirt for this warmup. Seems comfy. And he is rocking that mullet.
I heard a judges tape from finals of this year a long time ago, it was phenomenal.

Listen to that freakin' Book!!! Ralph is the all-time baddest ass in this activity!!

Your show was the first DCI show I EVER saw. You guys are the reason I got into percussion. Thanks!

That's me on center snare! Funny stuff.
Love Kent's Hawaiian shirt at the warmup!
These videos were actually taken by me when I was 17-year old, SCV followin' fan. Too bad I didn't know how to hold a camera steady.

I agree, they tune them so high today that a rimshot snaps the heads.
I'd go on to say that everything having to do with DCI was 1000% times better in the late 80s than what they're playing today as well. But of course if I say that, Generation Y will throw a hissy fit...
