  • The tune "How Insensitive" by ACJ Wes covered that one as did everyone else.

Not sure what you were trying to illustrate here....I think Pat does a lot more down strokes and hammer ons. And I dont believe you are holding the pic exacty like he does. But who cares...you are a very good player.

  • Fair comment - I didn't think this one through too much, but I wanted to show close-up of my right hand, as most guitar videos are of the fretting hand. How Insensitive is a tune Pat Metheny often plays. Yes, my right hand is different to his.

    Best wishes

    Richard Mills

  • very nice , what's the name of that tune ? Was wondering I thought Wes recorded this one, am I wrong?

  • How Insensitive

Don't know about Wes doing it.

  • Nice job man

  • Horrible sound and very bad plectrum technique. One dimensional tone.

  • @jeboccuzzi10 yeah... pat actually doesn't have the right hand speed this guy has. he manages to play really fast sometimes.

  • Great Plectrum tecnique Richard, fast and clean at the same time. Do you apply a breath-conception don't you? You breathe like a sax player before your phrase to give it a better pronunciation right? Great Job Man!

  • what kind of guitar, i can tell its and es335 but brand?

  • pat holds the pick with two fingers i believe. I fell that a while ago and didnt even realize. Idk if ts for better or for worse.

  • @guitarslim56 Haha. You got that one right -- and Metheny's the first to tell you (read old guitar player mags) that he had a hell of a time learning to use a pick, went through all sorts of weirdness, even went through a Di Meloa envy thing and he sat with a metronome for months until he could play 16ths at 208. I think there's so much music in him, he couldn't slow down enough to learn proper pick technique, so all those bad habits took root. Hehe. Wish I had those bad habits!

  • I notice you don't aim the pick point down at the strings, but seem to come from an angle...the point is pointing toward the bottom of the guitar....well, let's say half way between straight down and toward the bottom....Is that something I should be paying attention to for technique, speed, or sound? In fact I'm not quite sure what part of the pick is hitting the strings...the curved part, or the rearward tip...
