The Ohio Railway Museum was one of the pioneer operating railroad museums in the United States, and for a while in the late 1960s it was one of the premier operations. It was my good fortune to have been an active member during those years -- in fact I still think of the ORM as my "home road." While most of my time on the property was spent in operations or working on projects I did find time to take 8mm movies and slides. I share the best of my movies here, and plan to share the slides another day.

Any idea on the status of these cars today? Particularly 501 and 118? 501 looks quite similar to the Milwaukee Electric 1100 series cars, I'd be fascinated to learn more about it. I understand that the carshed has been pulled down and some cars are tarped. Birney 1545 came from Jay Maeder, the visionary man who took over the last of the Milwaukee Electric lines, only to lose the lot after a fatal collision.

@Jollygreenslugg I really don't know current status of anything at ORM.

Glory years, My Dad and I were members in the late 60s, right in my 4th to 9th year. I still have dreams about the place.

@KAWenzel Good to hear from you. Please ask your dad to check his e-mail (I know that's a sometime thing with him (;-]). I need his help identifying some of the other people in this video and also locations in another I just uploaded.
