As the son of a retired USAF MSgT, and future Air Force Airman, (though it was Army...please...) this was a remarkable catch. Last I checked, USAX 4623 was last in Ft. Hood, Texas, so it must be heading north for possibly a overhaul and a badly needed repaint. No matter, it was a memorable catch!
I appologize for the shakeyness, I was using the iPod, and just finnished a 23 mile bike ride.
Enjoy this rare video!

What a girly locomotive lol.

It is pink because it sat outdoors in the hot Texas sun for 15 years at Fort Hood, Texas. It will be repainted red after it gets rebuilt.

Dark red is sort of the branch color of the Army Transportation Corps, but how it faded to this raspberry pink I cannot guess.

That Army locomotive looked pink. I always thought the Army should have painted their locomotives OD or camo.

@santarosie It might be pink because it was originally red and it got badly faded.

Some of the grain cars say 'AOK'. Does that mean they're in excellent condition? LOL
