Iggy Pop & The Stooges, Sydney Big Day Out Festival, Australia Day, January 26, 2011.

Iggy Pop was in fine form at the Big Day Out music festival in Sydney, held in scorching heat on Australia Day, January 26th, 2011. His invitation to the crowd to come up on stage for a dance caused a few minutes of chaos for security manning the barrier. The lucky young punters who managed to get up on stage had a wild time and Iggy was loving it as well. All in good spirit and everyone, even security, had a good laugh and heaps of fun. The on stage crowd was eventually rounded up and sent back over the fence so Iggy could get back into his normal high-energy antics. Praise to the security who often get a bad rap. Under crazy hot conditions they controlled the excited crowd really well, gave Iggy and the crowd enough space to really enjoy the moment and kept the fluids up to everyone which made a huge difference to the atmosphere. The smiles on everyone's faces and the excitement Iggy created show why he is widely acknowledged as one of the most dynamic stage performers of all time - still going strong at 63 years old after more than 40 years in the game. A modern-day legend in music.

Man, I was right up in front and I wanted to get up on stage so bad but I didn't because I didn't want to get sent to the back of the crowd for the rest of the show after the song. How fucking stupid I've been, pretty sure it would've been worth it. Anyway, still got to see Iggy play which is still something I'll always remember.
