Due to the recent tragedies in the Tohoku region of Japan, this year's hanami parties were more subdued. Nonetheless, I believe that the best way to pay tribute to those who are suffering, is to celebrate the joys of life. So here are a few clips from Hanami this year.

i think cherry blossoms are beautiful!! i also want to see plum blossoms and all sorts of other blossoms in japan!! i'll never want spring to leave!! :O)

kansaiPJ, I do agree with your comment about the best way to pay tribute to those who are suffering because you don't forget them.
Here in Switzerland there are still reports about the people and the area around Sendai (and not only about the nuclear plant at the sea of Fukushima) which was hit by the earthquake and the tsunami!

hanami,not the vid;i don't get the big deal about hanami!
is it that it only happens for 10 days a year,is it the beauty of the trees(or how beautiful at night),is it the excuse to get drunk,is it the fun picnic with friends.
i am not a person that goes to another country to knock it.in fact,there is not much i haven't liked about japan.i just don't get how/why people start talking about this in october...about all the fun/beauty they will partake in 6 months down the road.

@qchome Working life can be hard and monotonous in Japan. Hanami is one of the few 'sanctioned excuses' for letting one's hair down and relaxing in public with coworkers and friends. Simple as that.
