Thank you for your thoughtful reflection. I know this won't resonate with the son of a pastor, but the reason you won't hear me participating in an impassioned chorus of "God Bless America" is because I genuinely do not believe in God or a savior of any kind. I have devoted much time and energy to this existential question and this is the conclusion at which I arrived. I also believe that the only hope for the survival of humanity is cooperation on a global scale, not just the success of the US.

Sometimes it feels like the world is morally digressing. But this is not the case. Why would God put humanity on a path of digression? He wouldn't... the world is simply growin up, like a person. If humanity were a person right now, it would probably be a hard headed teenager going through an awkward stage in life. That teenager will eventually be disciplined and straightened out into a more mature being. So in some form or another, Gods just gonna spank our bad little asses soon. But we'll grow
