The Music Therapy Community Clinic is a response to the widespread need for young people to constructively deal with daily trauma they are exposed to growing up on the Cape Flats. They offer this novel service to schools and they also work with parents, people infected and affected by HIV, and ill patients that are in hospital for extended periods of time. With their school trauma project alone more than 100 children are benefiting already and the demand is growing. This project was awarded a Silver Impumelelo Innovations' 2010 Sustainability Award. Their R20 000 prize money was sponsored by the Distell Foundation.
