Keep My School for Deaf Students

It's true that many deaf schools have problems with enrollment...more and more kids get mainstreamed now so deaf schools are getting smaller. I think it would be okay if MSD allowed CODA kids in, because they are already fluent in ASL. Or do it like Gallaudet, you have to take an ASL test and prove you are fluent PLUS be interested in deaf people in order to enter. It's a good idea to save schools like that but it must be done carefully.

i disagree. I think its good to have deaf and hearing together in one school. As of right now, not many hearing people know sign language. I learned ASL through my school. almost all the hearing people at my school and fluent in sign language cause majority of the population is deaf. I think its great. I like to be apart of the closeness in the deaf community. Also I think that it has also help my friends do better in grammar and English because they are around people who can explain it clear.

i read both sides, i think it would be good to have about 5-10, even more, in each grade level at each school. i think it would give hearing chance to learn more about the deaf culture, but on the other side, it would be nice for them to have interpreters with them.

The doctrine of keeping deaf with deaf only is a bad one, historically isolationists have a lot more problems communicating with others due to lack of contact, what I'm saying is that increased interaction will raise the numbers of people learning and wanting to learn sign language so that they can effectively communicate, I've had foreign friends, we taught each other at least enough of each others languages to understand what was going on or to crack jokes at each other and have fun.

I don't get you because ASL is not my sign language so my signing language is British. But a nice upload video. : )
great vlog :) you should give us an update. Have you thought about adding annotations for people who don't sign? It might help spread awareness to more people. just a thought :) Love your vlogs.

@pookymuffin101 Thanks, glad you thought it's great. :] Well, do you realize that this vlog is very old-like 4 to 5 years old? Now, MSD only accept hearing students in family education program, but not for higher ages. Thanks for the feedback-I've been trying to add captions to my current vlogs and videos but I haven't gotten around to my old vlogs. I'll certainly put it in my mind though. Thanks! :]
