Yea Crawford! big tough guy! lol, you powerlifters make me laugh how you scream, beat your chest, and think that lifting heavy weights makes you a tough guy! hahahaha
@sharif33: I did follow the logic of your last statement, and arguably, a hydraulic exoskeleton suit would very much bring a new technical aspect to the sport.
But I digress. I have not used gear, nor will I, since I can't respect it's use. I know there is no winning a youtube debate - however, I don't think there is any denying the fact that using gear increases lifts beyond what the athlete can do on their own (otherwise why use it at all). That said, see my original comment.
@Mitchilich You didn't really follow the logic of my last statement. Would a hydraulic exoskeleton suit bring a new technical, mental, or strength aspect to the sport? I suspect not.
I have lifted shirt and raw both have there own workouts and are hard but I did go back to raw! And as far as world records go its 715 raw and 1075 shirted world is all feds
@sharif33; That's not even close to the same thing, and I suspect you are intelligent enough to realize that. But as a question to you - by following the logic of your last statement; If I were to develop a hydraulic exoskeleton suit and wearing such would allow me to total well over 10,000 lbs, would you consider it legit?
Each lifter can do as they wish, and I don't claim superiority. But I don't respect the use of gear - and it's my right to feel that way.
@Mitchilich do you apply the mantra to other sports too? like baseball: if you can't hit the ball without a bat, then YOU can't hit the ball... or football: if you can't make the hit without shoulder pads and a helmet, then YOU can't make the hit... or tennis, etc, etc, etc. Geared lifting is just a different game. Gear brings a new technical, mental, and strength aspect to lifting.
@JayBee671: In powerlifting, there are too many federations, each having it's own weight classes and gear classifications. You could have a world record in the APF in the 275 lb weight class with multi-ply gear, etc... The "real" record is Scott Mendelson benching 715 lbs raw, without a bench shirt. I have more respect for that than for a 1,000 lb presser using a shirt. My mantra is "If you can't lift the weight without assistance, then YOU can't lift the weight."
