@TheWuillotine did you ever stop to think that most people you see on the streets have no experience in fighting unless they're from a bad neighborhood? so its only normal that they dont know what to do in a fight anyways.

@TheWuillotine any videos? if none please spare me. all the videos ive seen of the gracies have rules in them. they might term it as "no rules" but seriously most fighters are usually humble and they would not want to go in the fight ripping out someones eyeballs. thats why i said fighting and sport matches are different.

Regarding dirty tactics or street tactics beating BJJ. It doesn't work. The reason why is simple. "example" If someone bites me while I'm armbaring them, I'm still gonna snap their arm like a twig, I'll just have a bite mark afterwards, and they'll have a broken arm. You can't believe what u see in movies like when Bruce Lee bit his way out of being armbarred, that would NEVER happen in real life, unless the dude armbarring you is a complete fucking pussy with no pain tolerance.
-
Lastly, regarding "dirty" tactics or "street" tactics over coming BJJ. It rarely works if the man using the BJJ is emphasizing good technique. I've only seen such techniques countered in street fight scenarios then the guy countering it also knows BJJ, but he happens starts biting or groin punching, the difference is that particular guy knows when to use those tactics at the right time to be effective. Guys who don't know BJJ wouldn't know the exact time to counter.

Actually, in regards to the Gracies. During the years of the Gracie Challenge Matches. The majority of these fights were unsanctioned, which entailed "no rules", eye pokes /etc, however being that most fights "come to grips", say 95% of the time, and no other style really had significant grappling in their arsenal, BJJ won EVERY time regardless. Poking/Biting doesn't make a difference anyway BJJ trains counters to dirty tactics too.

Lastly, my closing comment. Again, no disrepect is meant to any other style. However, in my personal experience as someone who does hold rank in martial arts, is an ex-military, and an ex-bouncer> Knowing these "three" particular arts together is what I feel is your best case scenario to keep you prepared for "real" fights. I stand firm in saying that u should learn BJJ first to give u a solid base because grappling is still the most important aspect of fighting 95% of the time.

"Armed" happens for less than unarmed combat, but in the case that it should happen because it CAN happen. I would say that three most effective styles out there are as follows to make you the most well rounded prepared fighter > (1. BJJ (2. Muay Thai (3. CKM {for those "rare" occasions] This covers your grappling, your striking, your multiple attackers, and lastly your weapons defense too. This combination would, in my opinion, be your absolute best bet out there in the real world.

The most effective form of Krav Maga in my professional opinion is CKM (or Commando Krav Maga) - founder "Moni Isak" < I may have spelled his last name wrong lol, but he's the man to seek or any of his CKM Intructors directly under him for the most advanced tactics in life or death hand to hand combat. Please look him up, he's incredible. However, I still believe that even if you're an expert in CKM or any other form of Krav Maga that BJJ is still essential to know.

@all recent replies to my comment.
No disredpect is meant to any other style. Just keeping it real for you guys and telling it like it is. However, with regards to Krav Maga. Yes, Krav Maga is an excellent art for the street. In my humble opinion I would say this. If the fight is one on one with no weapons, I say BJJ works best. If it's multiple attackers I say BJJ with Muay Thai works best. However, if there's weapons involved Krav Maga is absolutely necessary, escpecially concerning knives.

@TheWuillotine Excellent comment; I think if you are talking about a pure striking style MThai is excellent but on a slippery wet fighting field with rocks and wreckage I would not want to kick boxing for me is the most applicable striking for military practicality - you can adapt it to knife fighting or use it for Bayonet drills or a rock or ammunition box - use your environment - but in a trench you want to be low so Greco-Roman or BJJ is best - it all goes back to Roman Pankration origin MA
i love when internet warriors know more than army Rangers about hand to hand....

BJJ is for real fighting, not for looking good on film. That's why it's so effective, that's why it beats everything else. The only way people beat BJJ is if you already know BJJ yourself or if your trained in BJJ and a decent striking art, such as Boxing or Muay Thai, and you know how to combine the two against the guy who only knows BJJ, but that's it! If it's BJJ against a "street fighter" or against any other "pure" style BJJ wins every time hands down. History has proven this :) Accept it
