The thing I don't get is why they felt the need to mix two different units in the same calculation. Dollars and cents are not interchangeable, any more than pounds and ounces, or miles and feet. Stick with the same unit until you've finished calculating, and then worry about converting to different units.
The sad thing is, this isn't just a Verizon thing. So many people never learned basic math like this, and so many more forgot it as they grew to adulthood.
The Verizon guys weren't the brightest bunch, thats for sure, BUT the biggest A-holes were the big bosses that decided to quote people in fractions of a dollar per kB.
No one can ballpark in their head what that comes out to without really thinking about it.
It would make a lot more sense for them to quote people in cents per megabyte.
But then people would realize that a 5 meg MP3 would cost them several dollars just to download.
the corporate doggies knew the difference, they would just get in trouble for acknowledging it. fucking corporations just want to steal your money hoping you can't do 6th grade math.
