  • Donna the compost tea you are getting from your composter is the concentrated kind,it is preferable to mix it with water, sometimes the stuff that leaks from your scraps of food can be a little too strong for the roots of the vegetables and can burn them, just my 2 cents worth. By the way don't worry that stuff is full of nutrients and microbes, good for your garden.

  • Thanks so much! I drenched my plants first with water from the rain barrell. It has worked out OK so far. I will make sure to dilute it even more this summer when it really starts breaking down...it would be sad to burn my roots!! Thanks for the tips!

  • There is a reservoir in the bottom of my composter to collect the tea. The instructions that came with it tell me to water it down 10 to 1. You sound like you use yours straight? Thanks Donna! I just love when you put a new video blog out. I get my happy on when I see the next one.

Bless you ....Deb in Washington St.

  • Hey! I water it down every week or so. Right now, it is breaking down so SLOW! I am not sure if I have many nutrients in it ... oh well! I use it straight, but I do water my plants first b4 I use it...I always water first! Thanks so much for watching.

  • You mean to tell me that you're not supposed to drink it? O.o

  • oh and also everytime i watered outside i also sprayed down my compost to give it moisture. Hope this helps...Angie

  • I dont use a composter and mine makes compost in one season..I just pile mine like piled leaves and turn it w/a fork at least every time I throw leftover veggie scraps as turning is important for faster breakdown..letting it lay right on the ground allows the worms to help break it down...in that container u dont have air or worms helping so thats why its not breaking down ver fast.

  • Compost TEA....I never heard of this. This is interesting.

  • That looks interesting. I look forward to hearing about the results. By the way my garden is in Orlando. I like watching your dog running around. lol

  • Compost tea is awsome! I'm using some for my plant and yeah it doesn't stink as long as you keep it open.
