  • what a lineup!!!!

  • simply awesome. :)

  • why all the swearing and cursing.is this meant to be an example of the sub-standard education that prevails in some of the unis these days that the students cannot spell university ,or is the cats that listen to jazz have become a despondent lot.i hope not.

  • Joe was under rated. Wayne had the political connections. So much of life's successes are based on politics. Wayne did write some interesting tunes that advanced Jazz music but he never went further after Miles died. I was looking for Wayne to take off and expand the tenor saxophone after John Coltrane but he didn't. Jazz died when Miles died.

  • Joe Farrell and Joe Henderson could both play figure eights around Wayne Shorter. Wayne got over for three reasons: association with Miles Davis, his tunes were great, and he was a member of Weather Report which was commercially-viable. It sucks that big Joe didn't get enough credit until later in his career, but everyone including Brecker gave him credit and acknowledged his influence.

  • G E N I O S

  • @soultrane23

English must be you 10th language... LMAO

  • there's an awful lot of stupid shit on this post. henderson came before shorter and could play any-fucking-thing, from hard bob to free bop to free with blues and bossa nova and fucking ballads over and under and all around wayne shorter. and YES, he never did get the credit he deserved, not because anybody with a brain was comparing him to wayne fucking shorter, but because of coltrane and rollins. and it's bobby hutcherson on vibes, moron. plus tony williams on drums!

  • Joe Henderson was always bitter about his not becoming a household name. You can hear it in his later interviews in which he seems defensive towards others he felt "copied" him or something without giving him any credit, like Brecker. Perhaps he was even racist toward Brecker. The guy did seem hung up about race with his silly "Power to the People" BS

  • @63Brummie ...well, one thing's for sure--it ain't golf you fucking piece of shit asshole.
