I think it was Dean's outstanding performances as Hollywood Palace host that led to his nearly ten-year run on NBC.
He made it look easy. Plus, he's devil-may-care attitude was pretty refreshing for early 60's TV. A little bit of honesty in a very sanitized era.
I also think it was neat that Dean featured a lot of country artists on his own show and recorded country standards in his own way. Dean had a way with just about any song.

I had the privilege of seeing Dean a number of times. He was a show business giant. The first time was at the Riviera in Las Vegas in 1970. He owned part of it, at the time. William Holden and Mike Conners (Mannix on tv) were waiting in line like the rest of us peons.

The great thing Buble does is carry on the style and tradition -but the depth and range - no bloody way!

@jimmbo13 Buble isn't horrible, not bad... but he doesn't add anything, doesn't do anything substantially different, doesn't put his own stamp on anything. So we might as well enjoy the originals... Frank, Dean, Bing, Perry.

great dino live

The only guy who didn't care who Frank was. Not that he didn't care about Frank, but he was his own show, his own man. Frank admired Dean for being relaxed and cool all the damn time. Didn't matter who you were, to Dean you were just human.
It is strange, yet intriguing. His personality was what you see, but who he was... well we will never know.
Love ya Dino.
