Isn't he so amazing!! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE 'Of Human Bondage', but 'Petrified Forest' was just so different. I can't describe why I love it so much. I just do.
And it kind of makes me annoyed that so many people attribute it with Humphrey Bogart. Though he was also really good in the film, Howard did better. And had it not been for Howard's insistence, Bogart never even would have been in the movie...

LESLIE HOWAR IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He is the best Ashley EVER!!!! I can't believe he was killed in an airplane accident. He could have made so many other films... :( Anyways
I think I'm obsessed with him and gone with the wind the movie. sigh
i think i was born in the wrong time, i would have loved to meet him and so many other actors. I hope Hollywood NEVER remakes gone with the wind, if they do, they will be insulting a timeless classic, because the first is always the best!

I first learned of Leslie Howard when my parents had me watch "The Scarlet Pimpernel" when I was in high school. I was hooked! What a lovely tribute to a marvelous actor.

A marvellous actor, in the true sense of the word.

I think it's sad that he seems to be primarily remembered for his part as Ashley Wilkes in "Gone With the Wind". He's absolutely hilarious in "It's Love I'm After" "Pygmalion" and "The Scarlet Pimpernel". He brought a certain something to all his roles that I've seen from no other actor. Except maybe his son, Ronald Howard, who gives the exact same intense look in "The Browning Version" that his father gives in "A Free Soul". Anyhow, great actor and great video.

What movie was it at 0,50? It looks nice.
Mr. Howard was one of the finest actors ever to grace the screen. I first became aware of him in "The Scarlet Pimpernel" after having read the Classics Illustrated comic book as a child. One of his best roles was in "Of Human Bondage". The tragic conclusion of his life, over the Bay of Biscayne during time of war, is made more poignant when you realize how keen he was to preserve the freedom of his countrymen. He was every bit as heroic as Sir Percy. A sterling tribute you've created.
