  • There is nothing going on like that today that unites people from many backgrounds the way the sixties music and fashions united people. In fact, it seems to me that most of the pop culture today goes out of it's way to attract only certain kinds of people that they find accaeptable. JMO!

  • this is why people call the sixties AWESOME! ;)

  • The song was written by bassist John Fleck who is still with the group today. The Standells continue to do this song in concert, beginning with the film clip from the movie. For more informatiion, go to the Standells official Facebook page.

  • Tremendous to see this on Youtibe, the greatest riff ever, better than smoke on the water, whole lotta love etc.. has a shifting movement those riffs don't have whilst retaining the anglo-saxon thump

  • my band got our name from this song. check us out thedaytonariots com.

  • Uprated this song from 4 to 5 star, for Garage Rock Soundtrack historical reasons:

Riot On Sunset Strip - The Standells [Los Angeles, California] - 1967 - "AMG Pick. Sixties soundtrack albums have always held a SPECIAL charm, especially those released on the Tower label, from Psych-Out to Wild in the Streets to this classic, 'Riot on Sunset Strip'." - The Hot Ones!/Try It [import] (Big Beat Records UK)-1993.

NOTE: I prefer "Try It" and "All Fall Down" to this song.

  • the roots of punk rock

  • Dick Dodd was a very underrated singer

  • The so-called "Riots on the Sunset Strip" of Nov 66' were really peaceful protests waged by kids and club owners against LAPD harassment/arrests of under-18 club-goers using the prevailing curfew laws in LA. The police under pressure from the wealthy or mob controlled business establishment essentially created false incidents as a pretext to bust heads & throw people in jail - in other words a "police riot".

  • Do you have the song, All Fall Down?

  • I don't understand this music young people listen to. It's too loud, a lot of noise, and it's causing me an headache. Their hair is too long, and I wonder if they use narcotics...

  • There's yer revolution... beer and burgers.
